Just saw one report on Facebook that Verne Ward has been elected to replace retiring Louie Bustle as Global Mission Director.
I assume this means General Board Meeting has begun. I'm sure there will be plenty to talk about, so I've started a thread.

Is this the meeting at which the commission on the future of the church will submit its recommendations?

People get tired of hearing about process. They want to know what the recommendations will be. Four subcommittees are currently working: Ecclesiology, Missional Strategy, Structure, and Global Manual. All four groups will be reporting to the Commission in April.
Personally, I have been spending a lot of time on the Global Manual. The goal is to end up with a Manual that is smaller and clearer. I believe we will accomplish both.

Dave, I was speaking to my D.S. the other day about the fact that I thought I heard at last GA the idea that the Manual was being re-written, and he hadn't heard anything about it...and I haven't been able to find the original thread on here that I expected to find. Wasn't there a report from a committee that recommended we try to start from scratch (and from a global perspective) instead of continuing to make changes to the existing Manual? If so, can you send me a link to that report so I can share it with my D.S.?
Ken,
You're interested in tracking down the report of the ICC (International Church Committee). You can read the full report here.
You'll see that the Committee offered 6 recommendations.
Recommendations 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 was unanimously recommended by the legislative committee that reviewed them (76-0). The assembly subsequently adopted the recommendations with a hand vote (indicating that the vote was clearly affirmative, so no vote count was needed).
Recommendation 5 was replaced with SR-757 by its committee. SR-757 was unanimously recommended by its legislative committee (7-0), and subsequently adopted by hand vote.
SR-757 was the creation of the "Commission on the Nazarene Future." Consequently, this commission was tasked with continuing the work of the ICC.
Hope that helps!
Grace and Peace,
Jon Twitchell

Ken, Jon has provided the link you requested. I would just caution that the ICC report didn't suggest that we start "from scratch." It suggests that we retain all of the Articles of Faith, the Constitution and the Covenant of Christian Character. None of our doctrine will change. It is the procedures included in the Manual that are to be reviewed for global relevance.
