    New photography challenge

Ok let's try a new one.

We have a new LURKER among us -- I won't say the name yet, until she joins NazNet!!

She came up with a great idea for a challenge --

Do you have a family heirloom that is very special to you? Piece of furniture? Photo? Piece of jewelry? Share your photos and tell your story!!!

I'll be sharing mine later this afternoon........
Thanks Susan Unger - "thanks" for this post

Dana, we have one that's in the family since my great grandfather, but it is still at my mom's place. I'll inherit it when the time comes. Will take a picture when I get there.

    Re: New photography challenge

I have so many special items -- from quilts to letters to butter churns -- from my grandparents. Years ago, my grandmother gave me this gift that I was shocked to receive. This is my grandfather's old hand saw, and my aunt paid an artist to depict the old homestead where my grandfather was brought up on this old saw. The artist did an excellent job, as this is exactly how the home looks, and I spent many hours playing there as a child. My grandparents lived across the road from the old house, and my great aunt lived there until she passed away. Can you imagine, living in the same home from the time you were born to the time you died? I had a great relationship with my grandparents -- they were very special people....Now I will have to pass these on someday to my own children......

    Re: New photography challenge

Well, it took a while but here it is. Bought by my great grandfather, somewhere around 1880. My dad had it restored, it was in pretty bad shape.

    ahh, very special, Hans!

We also have the family Bible that belonged to my husband's grandparents. We read the Christmas story from it every year. Not nearly as old as the one you have there, though. Wow, 1880....

    Thanks, Hans!
