    Huerfano Butte, AZ

Today, Linda and I went to Huerfano Butte, AZ looking for petroglyphs. We found some.

In researching this place on the web, I found a post that said that it is a "dangerous" place. The post claims that many people have gone there and not returned. Of course, that made us want to go even more.

Using information we found on the web, we located the place that many years ago was an oasis in the desert. There were a number of "metate" -- grinding slabs where the Native Americans used to grind their food. Above where the water hole used to be, were a number of petroglyphs.

For some reason the scholars seem to always think of petroglyphs as an attempt to communicate with future generations. The more of them I see, the more I am convinced that they were just graffiti of that day.

    Dave,

Have you noticed that you're using one lens more than the others? I'm guessing that you've stuck the 70-200mm f2.8 lens on while hiking and carry the 16-35mm for the wide angle shots...

I am still experimenting. Today, I used all three. Anytime I anticipate seeing wildlife, I put the 70-200mm on. For that reason, I am using it the most. The rest of the time, I alternate, depending on whether I need the wide angle.

Overall, I am loving the camera, but this is the kind of shot I like the most.
