It might be interesting to tell us what kind of camera it is, Dana

    Re: Oh. My. Goodness.....

Oh, yeah, I guess so -- LOL

It is a Canon EOS T2i -- right now it is very confusing, but I played with it quite a bit tonight.

I love continuous shooting. That's my favorite part so far....LOL

I had planned to get the T3i -- but there's not much difference other than the viewfinder that I could see in the comparison of them side by side. And it was quite a bit more expensive. I would rather save the money to use for a new lens sometime......

I have the kit lens which is 18-55mm and then another one that is 55-250 mm (I know there are other numbers with that, but I don't have it right here in front of me, and I'm still learning about those....)

Once I have it for a while, maybe I'll be more comfortable buying more expensive lenses that I'll know what my needs are by then. Right now, these will be fine for a while. Because right now I have a lot to learn about lenses -- which ones are better for what purpose, etc. I am clueless right now!!

anyway---it has been fun to start putting my hands on it. And I love continuous shooting.

Pretty much the only thing I don't like about it so far is that I wish the body was bigger and a little more substantial. It's about the same size as my fuji.

Also, I need to buy a filter to go over the end of my lens for protection purposes. And I need a lens hood.....and I need a couple of extra batteries. And a couple of extra cards. I'm making a list!!!

    More to come......

    Dana,

You sound like a little school girl....

The best way to learn a new camera is to shoot with it, make sure you have the manual handy!

I've got a source for inexpensive batteries and lens hoods, let me check with them for pricing...

    Re: Oh. My. Goodness.....

Thanks, Jon!! I'm on my way out the door to do just that this afternoon......SHOOT! I played a lot with the different menus, watched a tutorial on youtube about my camera's buttons and bells and whistles, and although I'm not comfortable with it yet, I'm not completely intimidated by it after 24 hours -- just imagine what I would have been like 5 years ago when I started all of this photography stuff!! I'm glad I didn't jump in with both feet and bought the camera that I started with -- but now I guess you could say that I have crossed the "bridge" -- so to speak.....

Let me know about the place you were talking about for hoods and batteries -- do they also sell the filters to protect the lenses? The ones that I have fit the new camera, but I'd like to buy a little more substantial ones for this camera.

    Thanks!!

    Re: Oh. My. Goodness.....

    Dana,

    Here's a link for you:

    http://www.fotodiox.com/

They sell lens hoods at deeply discounted prices. My supplier for batteries can't come close to the prices that you get from eBay... As for the filters... I'd suggest that you purchase the best quality that you can, for me that means B & W... The idea of the filter is to protect the front element of the lens, but since it's in the path of the sensor and lens you need to use a piece of high quality glass. My second choice for filters is Canon, of course they don't make them... I think that B & W does, then labels them as Canon.

You may want to check on buying a camera battery grip to make the camera body larger. It also will give you a vertical shutter release. Canon makes them, but so do some of the aftermarket companies. Make sure the one you purchase uses the same battery as the body, some of the really cheap ones use a battery from a different camera....

If you need additional help you know how to reach me...

    Re: Oh. My. Goodness.....

thanks, Jon -- I was going to ask you what you thought about the battery grip, because I'm ordering one that is a Canon. (so everything will match, I suppose). First thing is the filter, though. I feel very insecure without a filter on the end of the lens.....I would just hate to fall and strike the end of the lens.....ouch!

    Thanks for the link!!
