Your Personal "Must See" Sporting Events

This weekend is a "Must See" sporting event for some people. The NCAA basketball Final Four (Men's or Women's) is planned on calendars and other things cancelled. In addition, the powerful dynamics of two teams from one state playing in the final four - first time for the men since the 1960s - is leading to cancellation of other events and changing of plans.

Next weekend The Masters is for some people a "must see" event.

I'm not talking about sports you will watch if you happen to be home and nothing else is going on. Which sporting events will you change your plans and make sure you don't miss?

Re: Your Personal "Must See" Sporting Events

A friend of mine got to go to Tuesday at the Masters a few years back. Said it was indescribably cool. I would like to have that experience - although probably not at current prices.

I just like to see meaningful games - again, due to cost - that usually happens in regular games in great venues. I've found that crowd that enjoys being at the park makes an ordinary game meaningful.

I've been to a lot of baseball stadiums; I enjoy comparing them and experiencing new crowds and new hot dogs.

I think the Winter Olympics and the Tour de France would be my big choices for dream sporting events. Both are generally free to view (at least the winter olympic events I most enjoy watching), but would require some travel. I hoped to get to Vancouver last time, but perhaps the next time they come to North America will be better.
    ...just my $.02.

None, I may watch if I happen to be home at the time they are being telecast.

I'd love to see a day game at Wrigley. We went to Chicago for our honeymoon, but all three games that week were at night; I didn't even bother to go.

Dr. Coach Poteet, you would have enjoyed the indoor finals of the NCAA held recently at the Idaho Center.

Nothing compares to having watched my son play Little League Baseball and Junior League Hockey. Since he's now outgrown it, there's no sport I care to see.

I didn't need to be at the Idaho Center in Nampa. I watched it on television.

According to my basketball loving cousin, that is so not the same!

Super bowl, World Cup, or any championship games my teams are in. This is pretty limited to Ohio State, Columbus Crew, and the Lakers. The Blue Jackets will never be in a Stanley Cup, but I don't care.

Last night I was watching a documentary on the 1986 Masters. It was, without a
doubt, the most exciting golf tournament of my experience.

Re: Your Personal "Must See" Sporting Events

We did change our plans for this one, but only because the opportunity presented itself...

I and a handful of other pastors from our district were in Europe for 2 weeks this past month, and we happened to be in Barcelona when FC Barcelona was playing Grenada. We were able to get tickets, so 4 of us went with Kyle Himmelwright (the Western Mediterranean field director) to watch Barcelona win 5-0. Messi scored 3 goals, in the process beating the all-time team scoring record. He's an amazing player.

For those who don't know, I'm talking about football (the kind that we call "soccer").
