What drives me crazy is those that are sure someone with good marketing must have good theology and that God is blessing.
I've been in various types--churches with excellent theology AND excellent marketing. A couple with good marketing, bad theology. Some with good theology, bad marketing. And one with bad theology bad marketing (guess that was a good thing, though!)

I haven't encountered that sentiment here or anywhere else. What I have encountered is the idea that good marketing that leads to strong attendance and cashflow renders the question of theological precision a moot point.
One could say: "The Christology in last week's sermon was a textbook example of Nestorian heresy, but who the hell cares? Eighteen people accepted Christ as their personal savior in response to that sermon. I'll take that over theological nitpicking any day."
That drives me crazy on multiple levels.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us wthout end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
