Opening service last night began with the worship team leading a hymn particularly popular from each decade and an invitation to stand with others who first came into contact with the Church of the Nazarene by decade. Of course, I stood up with the few who stood up for the decade of the 1930s. A presentation was made of the Centenial Album followed by a message from Dr. Porter whom I remember as a student at Bethany Nazarene College when I taught there. When we greeted each other he confessed in an anecdote about a prank he would pull on some who visited the print shop where he worked as a student which I am not at liberty to share. He included in his message about the fact that as E. Stanley Jones luggage carrier on their many trips that it fit him just fine since he is a "Porter."
