In what sense, Jim? Rude in language, or tough to live there?

Hey, in Providence they're just proud to be in the top 20 of any list.

How is Philadelphia 3rd? They cheered when an athlete was paralyzed, and booed Santa Claus. I demand a recount.
On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.

Chicago would have also booed a drunken Santa. And booing an injured athlete is better than trying to personally injure an athlete by throwing batteries from the bleachers (see New York). All the cities in the top 6 are equally deserving.

Having lived in or near 3 of the top 7, my personal experience is that #7 (Baltimore) is nowhere near as rude a place to live as Boston and Philadelphia- unless we are including murders- which I guess are pretty rude.

Another reason to be happy to live in the lap of southern hospitality (and friendliness) here in northeastern Georgia!

I agree about Philly. Used to dread having to go there on business trips. And DC. Miami, too. Jeez Louise!

I don't remember ever being treated rudely in Orlando. But then again, while visiting there I spent most of my time on one or more of the Disney properties. After getting home from trips, it'd take me days to scrub the grin off my face!

As a Northerner who has lived in the south, southern hospitality is particularly hospitable when extended to fellow southerners. Since I never personally experienced its extension to a Northerner, I cannot vouch for whether that actually happens. I do know that here in the Midwest the Civil War is over and a part of the history books. I do not know about Georgia, but th Civil War was still ongoing in East Texas.

Wow, really!? Sorry to hear that. Maybe I was a bit sheltered when in TX awhile.

Hans, this was just a list published by the Travel Editors of the US Today publication. I do not know what their criteria was.

If this survey were taken in June ,July or August, when the temperature is hovering around 95 and the relative humidity is 95% and it is not raining, my guess is that Houston would be in the top ten.
    I’ll take#19.
