    One of the joys(?) of teaching Biology at the university level is that we sometimes see answers this clever/stupid given by students on their exams

    As a veteran educator, I have had many of these kind of answers from students from 4th grade through college, as well as "the dog ate my homework" from all of those levels. Students at all levels brought apples or candy bars on the class before grades were to be posted.
