    UK...Its still cold.

We now have had two months of bad, cold, mostly wet weather. Needless to say we are no longer in drought conditions. This has been the worst start to a summer that I can remember. We often have heating on, heating was on in our church, amazing for this time of year.
What wouldent surprise me is if we have a bad heatwave later on. Nothing would surprise me in these weather patterns......snow in July?

We actually have some good weather since a couple of days, Ian. Temps in the 20's, with some thunder and lightning every now and then, though. But at least we finally got out of the cold.

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law just returned from 3 weeks in London.....rained every single day, they mentioned!! They're hoping to go back again in a few months and will hopefully have better weather then!! (his work takes him there sometimes)

I could go for a few days in the twenties! Then again, our twenties are a bit cooler than yours.

It was 30 here in Celsius, I'm ready for fall weather already!

Please don't rush things , Jim . Our winters are far too long . Had the A/C on for a day a week ago and then back on this Saturday morning . We almost broke the heat record for May 20th with 89 º. Missed it by a half degree . Right now its 75º. I love summer !!

There was an article on this on Ars Technica the other day. The early warm temperatures that America has been dealing with have only gripped North America and...Greenland? The rest of the world is seeing entirely different temperature sets.

On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.

Just wait until the first time you find yourself in a Canadian hotel room, if you haven't already. You have arrived late and your ready for bed. Then you notice that the thermostat is calibrated in Celsius, or worse yet Centigrade!

Realizing that if you set it too warm you will sleep miserably and probably have to get up in the middle of the night to open windows. And it's already too cold, so you want to turn it up, but how far? Where is comfortable? More staring, more wondering.....................................It's getting late and still no clue.............................Pull up the covers and sleep in the cold, not taking a chance on it getting too hot.

    The right answer is 20!

And you can always divide by 5, multiply by 9 and add 32, which brings you to 68 F.

Now why can't I remember such a simple formula? Yes I did sleep in the cold that first time!

I have learned how to roughly convert the distances in Kilometers into miles. I take half of the value in Kilometers and then add in a tenth. It gets me close enough and I can do it on the fly.

For the Liter to Gallon conversion I just use a factor of 4, it gets me close enough.

Years back, I used to own a small chain of gas stations. At the time our country was in the process of converting to the metric system. We sold gasoline by the gallon, but all of our metering equipment was calibrated according to Liters, so everything had to be converted for the bookkeeping. The conversion rate was 3.785, but I found I could work faster by using the reciprocal .2642 as it could be entered in with a quick circular motion on the keyboard without thinking about the number.

We still do a lot of converting over here as our fasteners are a mixed bag. One learns quickly that if a 1/2" wrench fits too tightly, than it's 13mm. A 3/8" wrench just won't fit, then it's 10mm. Although that's no guarantee that all of the fasteners will be metric, many vehicles use both.

I've still got a set of British Whitworth wrenches. I'm sure glad that they aren't needed anymore!

100% chance of rain tomorrow in the Boise Valley with snow above 5000 feet. High for tomorrow in the 50s here, high 20s tonight above.
