Drove over it a few years ago. It used to be a favorite of 'fixed base jumpers', although I suppose they've put a stop to all that. That part of WV has some incredibly rugged country - the mountains aren't all that high, but the terrain is very broken. I can remember when the trip from Bluefield to Charleston could take the best part of a day.

Yes, Dave, it is in West Virginia, near Fayetteville. Close to Beckley where my parents live. Close to Summersville, where the West Virginia Nazarene Campground is located. When that bridge was opened in 1977, it took about an hour's time off the trip to church camp for the Beckley folks!!

John, every October they open the bridge for one day (Bridge day), and people are allowed to bungee jump off the bridge -- and other things if I remember correctly -- hang gliding or something. Anyway it's the one day of the year that it's legal -- and they have thousands of people who attend every year!
Thanks John Kennedy - "thanks" for this post

That's nice, is it tone mapped or straight from the camera?

Yes, Dan, there is a little tonemapping done to this picture. I love the HDR-like effect of it, so I play around with it a lot!!!

    Very nice

Would you believe the only reason I do core exercises is so I can hold my camera more steady?
