Any Word Perfect x4 experts here?

I KNOW I'm ancient and stubborn for I'm refusing to give up on Word Perfect and switch like the rest of the world to Word.

Now that we've got that issue established, here's the deal.

Every time I sign on to Word Perfect I get this "tool bar" or whatever in the middle of my screen. I've checked/re-checked everything I know to do but still am having no success in getting shed (that's how OLD I am!) of it.

Any for sure answers?

Nelson, I would try one of two things. The first would be wanting to keep that toolbar I would stretch it out and move it to the top and the close my WP and see if it stayed. The other is to go to the view dropdown and the under toolbar remove it. If those don't work something's fishy.

Don't be sorry for using word perfect. It is still the best word processing program out there. Just have problems when you start doing everything else.

OK, try this. Right click on the tool bar (next to the space shuttle icon thingy there in the middle, make sure it's in that section). Choose "settings" from the drop down box. Then go to the "property bars" tab. Now, here's where it gets iffy -- what you have is a "text" property bar, I think. So click on that in the "property bars" tab -- somewhere in there should be a place to take that off of your screen. That's where I lost it -- I don't have time to go that deep into it right now........but I'll try to look at it while we're on the road today!!!

It wouldn't let me put the drop down menu in the snip, but position your cursor just beside that icon that kind of looks like a space shuttle....

Followed your exact step-by-step instructions, Dana, but do not see option to NOT SHOW the text box.

HURRY! This is driving me CRAZY!
