    Re: NBA Finals

My prediction for game 3? The Boshtrich is coming, and he's going to get aggressive early and be effective. I expect OKC's bigs to be in foul trouble. Heat, 2-1.

So far my prediction looks terrible (in terms of Bosh's scoring).

Edited to add: He's been a clutch rebounder here in the 4th. Awesome.

Wonder where that Boshtrich bird will land next year? OKIE should have won that game. Harden couldn't buy a shot, and it seems these pros forgot how to shoot free throws. Thunder have been down before no need to push any panic buttons.

Still in Miami. No way they trade him. Absolutely no way.

    Aren't you a Mavericks fan?

Can't a Mavericks fan root for Okie against Miami ? I spent 12 years in Okie 6 of those in OKC so I am thrilled the team and city are enjoying the Thunderous success of their Big League team. I was wildly excited about the OKC/NO Hornets. I also root for the West and the Southwest in particular. My #3 team is Houston. Its hard to root for the boys in Black in SA but against the East or LA, All the time!

I said this before the series started:

I agree, the Spurs were playing better basketball than anyone, but it was one-sided, and something the Thunder were prepared to adjust to. We'll see what playing a defensive-first team does to them, and how it changes the matchup. To base anything on this series off the SAS series seems a little misguided.
So far, that seems to be a good analysis.

The Heat routinely get chided for their "hole" at Center, yet without conventional bigs, the Heat have held the Thunder to 13-27 shooting at the rim (48.1%) which is actually quite routine for them. Since the Big3 have come together, this Miami Heat team is the best team in the league defending the rim, holding opponents to 57.8% at the rim over the last 2 years.

    Re: NBA Finals

Lebron has finally showed up in the finals. I think he is arrived. I must be true, the male brain doesn't mature until about 27 years old. It took him long enough! He has the talent, now he is playing like a champion. He has finally learned the mental toughness required to win a championship.

I don't think he will win multiple championships with this team, but he will win one or two. It's not as easy as he thought, but hey, we all live and learn, some are slower and more arrogant than others.

    Re: NBA Finals

I haven't been watching this series due to not being home, but it seems to me that Westbrook and Durant need to work on improving their defense if they ever want to win championships. The other option is to remove Westbrook from the point, play Harden there and keep Sefolosha at SG. Harden is a better point option and defender than Westbrook is at many times, though Westbrook's explosiveness on the dribble is second to none on the team. I expect that the series is basically decided now and look forward to seeing what the Thunder do to improve for next season. It would not surprise me to see several of their backups being released because they are simply useless and not playing.

Harden is not a point guard and he couldn't guard me and I'm 71 years old. He is a terrible defensive player.

If you get punked enough times, you'll eventually figure out how to do it to other teams. LeBron has stepped up. The only way any doubters will still remain is if the Zombies come back to win three straight. He's been carrying this team for a couple series now and playing out of his mind. If he keeps this up, it could be the dawn of a new era in the NBA.

    Re: NBA Finals

Where has Harden been the past two games? He seems to have lost all confidence. I saw it on one play when he had a totally clear path to the rim and he stopped, and looked to get rid of the ball like a new kid in the gym. Then he found no one open and and made a hurried attempt and missed. He needs to get his " Have No Fear - Fear the Beard" commando going.

The Heaters are looking like Champs. (ugggs hate to say that. What happened to the LBJ 4th Q fade away. ) Looks like he wants to win a Ring to shut folks up.
Thunder can still pull this out. I hate the 2 - 3 -2 setup. Why did they do this.

Ben your no comment and failure to push the laughing button on my suggestion for your profile pic suggestion above leaves me thinking you didn't appreciate that. I would remove that post if could. All in fun, just giving you a hard time. Sorry if I offended.

Thank you! I'm so tired of people talking about Harden as a good defensive player.

Also, you're right. Harden is a very poor ball-handler for a guard (very 70s-90s 2-guard). He cannot play point, and Durant and Sefolosha couldn't play point, either. The Thunder need Westbrook to be the PG.

James only faded in 3 games in his entire NBA career.... I don't udnerstand the narrative.

I didn't respond or click because I simply didn't understand it. It appears he's wearing a Sonics or Bucks jersey, due to the apparent hunter green tint. So, I just didn't understand it.

Understandable Ben. He is standing in front of AA center - Heat wear Green sometimes. Did you miss it.

    I'm genuinely sorry for you.

but it seems to me that Westbrook and Durant need to work on improving their defense if they ever want to win championships.
I made a statement last round about Wade being the 2nd best player because his defense is sooo much better than Durant's. I would probably amend that to say that when Wade is healthy, he's the 2nd best player on the planet, and that his health this year makes him not as valuable as Durant was. Again, Durant is clearly the best or second best offensive player, but he simply doesn't have the defensive skill yet that gets so ridiculously overlooked because of how good he is offensively.

Durant has been in foul trouble a lot because of this problem, and because he's not good with his feet and prone to use his arms too much.

I trust he'll get it together as he progresses. We'll probably see you all in the Finals again soon.

The other option is to remove Westbrook from the point, play Harden there and keep Sefolosha at SG. Harden is a better point option and defender than Westbrook is at many times, though Westbrook's explosiveness on the dribble is second to none on the team.
Neither are good defenders, but Harden is not a good ball-handler. No way he can play the 1.

I expect that the series is basically decided now and look forward to seeing what the Thunder do to improve for next season.
You're more confident than I am.

    Re: NBA Finals

Before the series started I said, "The epic match-up: Heat vs. Thunder

I'm going with the Heat in seven. As much as I don't like the Heat, I would have to give them the edge over the Thunder. They have finals experience and they are getting enough out of Lebron to make it happen. The question is: Will Lebron show up in the finals? This is his third trip and I believe he has yet to score 25+ in a finals game. If Lebron can score 25+ and get solid contributions from Wade & Bosh, this series will go to the Heat."

The pulled it off in five games instead of seven. The difference? Lebron finally showed up. And he scored 25+ in all five games while getting solid contributions from Wade, Bosch and the bench. Three point shooting from the bench really made an impact.

This is a different Lebron. His previous playoff runs were unimpressive. But he has finally arrived, matured and evolved into a championship player.

Either way, I stink don't like him for what he did to Cleveland. But I'm not stupid. I saw his game change and he actually played like he wanted to win. So unlike previous playoff runs where he just didn't shoot effectively or at all (Lechoke!).

Anyway, congratulations to the Heat and to Ben Burch, you are finally vindicated.

P.S. Beware of the Thunder, they will be back and they will win a Championship if they can keep that core together.

Nope, just one. This year does not count. When Der Stern stepped in and vetoed the trade that would have sent CP3 to the Lakers. This season is the biggest asterisk since Bonds.

That is the general response to those who truly do not watch Kobe play. Look what he did at the Olympics. Besides CP3 would have been the consistent number 2 scorer and facilitator that the Lakers needed. Imagine Kobe getting 2-3 easy layups a game. Imagine the rest he could take. When Sessions got there the team turned around but Sessions cannot play defense and got smoked by other PGs.

I'd be more willing to place an asterisk on this year than their previous title, but if we're going to start discounting titles based on Stern's actions, there are plenty of others that could be called into question as well... wasn't he the commish for a couple of those Lakers' championships?

    Re: NBA Finals

Folks in North Eastern Ohio are obviously pretty frustrated. They invested seven years in Lebron only to have it pay off in Miami. But more than that, he is a native, so this title is especially painful. Lebron has redeemed himself with a title, but I doubt he will win much favor in certain regions of the country.

A Cleveland weatherman made light of the Thunder/Heat finals in a way that I thought was pretty humorous.

CONGRATS to the HEAT to LBJ and the rest. Seems the Thunder once they lost game 2 just melted down with Harden leading the way. But anyway congrats also to Ben (my favorite ..and only heat fan I know ) We can all shut up now LBJ didn't disappoint.

Also congrats to WES who called this ending several months ago with his amazing prophesies! However his prediction for june 22 was a bit off - as far as I know

Pretty sure it's a sonics jersey, and that the individual is protesting the OKC Thunder as a team, because of how everything went down. A lot of Sonic fans are pretty upset about that, still. That is what it appears like to me.

Ya know whats cool. Filipinos love Basketball. You see pickup games everywhere. Guys playing in flip flops on a dirt "court" with make shift backboards and rims. Lots guys put on their favorite NBA Jersey's especially during the playoffs. (of course these jerseys are all knock offs done by the local shop for about $5 bucks. (which is over a days wages for the working man). Lots of Heat jerseys just hit the streets !

Filipinos didn't get the Hate on LBJ as they were sheltered from LBJ s PR nightmares of 2010.

If LBJ plays until he is 40 ...13 more years - any records to be broken?

    I believe he'll tie or break KAJ's MVPs (6)
    He'll break Malone's scoring record
He'll break Oscar's record for most 25-7-7 seasons
Most seasons with 2000 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists
He's already the only player to average (so far) 26 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists for their career (I expect that to stay the same)

If you're into Basketball advanced statistics, I think he'll finish 2nd all-time in Win Shares per 48 minutes and Player Efficiency Rating.

I believe he'll be regarded as one of the 4 greatest to ever play the game when he's done, with Michael, Wilt, and KAJ.

    That is just in general.

    If he plays until 40?

I think he'll break just about any significant record, including total Win Shares.

He'll be #5. Tim Duncan is in the top 4.

    But Wilt isn't.

Michael Jordan and Bill Russell are the two greatest NBA players in my mind. If LeBron can continue to play like he played in these playoffs, he has the potential to top both of them. I believe he is the first player since Jordan left with even the chance to do so. That's saying something.

I disagree. I would like to think so, but I don't.

Also, if LeBron accomplishes what I said, along with 3 more titles along the way, there will be zero question that he was better than Duncan.

Ranking players can get a little absurd, but I would personally rank my top 8 as follows:

    Michael
    Wilt
    KAJ
    West
    Magic
    Shaq
    Duncan
    Bird
