    Covenantial lawsuit?

Hi folks, I just received an email from a girl in our church who is doing religious studies at her high school. She asked me if I could explain to her what the "Covenantial Lawsuit" was.....

I have never heard of the term. I've looked up several of my theology reference books and it doesn't appear there.
I even "Googled" it but got no hits.....

Can someone tell me what its about or at least give me an online reference to it.

    Thanks.

Okay, I stumbled upon it.... I think?!

I typed into Google: "Covenantal lawsuit" and found a reference to it...... The covenant agreement between God and his people in scripture.
(I think the lass could have spelt it wrong in her email to me, or that the teacher assumed that it was spelt this way)

Yet I would welcome any comments you might have about it....
    Again, thanks.

That's the only thing I could think of, too.
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18

Because the term cam out of a religious studies class, I would assume it is being used in connection with the scripture.

Without knowing that context, I would just say that it is a law suit filed to get a judicial intrepretation of a contract -- probably a contract realestate contract. In past times the word "covenant" was used as we use "contract" now. The term is still often used in real estate agreements.

A quick search on the internet makes me guess that her class was discussing the argument made in the book of Amos that God's covenant with the Children of Israel was no longer valid because it was breached by the Children of Israel. That would lead to a discussion of whether or not the current nation of Israel is still entitled to the blessings of the covenant. Part of the covenant was that God would bless those who blessed the Children of Israel. Is that promise still valid? Is it a valid reason for the U.S. to support Israel?

Thanks Dave; and yes I see the connection to the book of Amos too.
