    Ramen Noodles

So, I was looking for a way to make a healthy, better-tasting version of Ramen Noodles, with pantry items, so as to not elevate the cost of the cup of noodles.

Here's what I came up with:

Crush 4 cloves of garlic and add to pot of boiling water.

    Add...

    a little olive oil
    Rosemarry
    Pepper
    Salt

If you like it spicy, you can add...

    chopped Jalapeņos or Habaneros
I also added ground Cayenne Pepper.

Bring the water to a rolling boil and let it sit/steep at a boil for about 5-7 minutes, enough to get a strong-flavored broth working.

Add your pack of Ramen Noodles, throw away the garbage "seasoning pack" full of MSG, and enjoy a healthy meal of noodles.

You can add some sugar to the broth to give it some balance against some of the more bitter flavors if you wish.

I also suggest adding vegetables to the broth stage, like carrots, onions, green beans, and asparagus. The broth will allow you to retain the lost nutrients, while adding a nice vegetable stock type flavor.

    Or

Add your pack of Ramen Noodles, open one end of yummy "seasoning pack" full of MSG an repeatedly lick and stick your finger in the package until you can enjoy a healthy meal of noodles.

Hey, Ben -- I sent this idea to my daughter -- first summer of living alone (Internship at Phoenix First church) -- she used to love Ramen noodles as a kid -- this is a "grown-up" version -- we'll see if she tries it!!

Yeah, every once in awhile I succumb to a noodle packet, but like to add fresh mushrooms, garlic, cilantro, oregano/basil, onion, greens (spinach, broccoli), and may sometimes use maybe 1/5 to 1/4 of that nasty packet. That much of the packet is plenty.

But actually, like to buy the pasta (Barilla Plus) that says there's enough whole grain that fiber per usual size serving is something like 6 grams instead of the usual 2 grams.

    Re: Ramen Noodles

Technical question. Maybe we need a poll and a divisive heated debate, but I gotta know.

Do you add the noodles straight from the pack, as is?

Or do you crunch up the noodles before adding them in?

    I just gotta know.

And as a follow up question, why. Cause I'm willing to learn!

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

For me, crunching up the noodles leaves too many tiny pieces which are very difficult to eat easily. I prefer longer noodles, so I just throw the noodles in as is, then use a fork to separate them from one another.

    Re: Ramen Noodles

Have done both ways ... crunched up or whole. (this is a rare thing, remember )

Actually like to eat them barely after they touch the hot stuff (so, want to ready the other things you are using before even dumping them in). They get soft/mushy sooo fast . . . .

    Re: Ramen Noodles

Have tried Ramen Noodles twice chucked both times, off my list of consumables. You're welcome to my share.

All-State has coined a phrase I think my take off into main stream phraseology. "Their on a budget, a Ramen Noodles every night kind of budget."

I thought it was a good descriptor of a tight budget.
