    Reregistering

Hello everyone! I'm reregistering after a lapse of some years. I originally registered around 2004 while I was living in Korea and teaching English at Korea Nazarene University. I rarely posted, so probably most of you don't remember me. However, I have enjoyed reading posts on several of the forums and finally decided to reregister so that I can more actively participate.

For an update--I'm a single woman who is now retired in Pasadena, California after teaching for several years at a community college. I continue to teach ESL (English as a Second Language) three evenings a week at a local Church of the Nazarene (Rosemead) which is composed of three congregations: English, Spanish, and Chinese. I also do a little private tutoring out of my home. I enjoy my contacts in the immigrant population very much and often end up with a variety of interesting foods in my kitchen such as kimchee, Korean noodles, dried seaweed, black and white fungus, etc. Unfortunately, being single and a bit lazy, I don't bother cooking much. Maybe I should take up a new hobby!

I feel like I already know many of you, and I look forward to continued fellowship.

I was at Sun Valley Indian School when you left and am pleased that you are back in the "home of the brave and land of the free." I was previously a colleague of Dr. Don Owens at Bethany. He got to finish his doctorate in Anthropology while I did not get to finish my efforts for an EdD. Geography but we had some common interests in the various cultures that we had studied.

    "If you dare . . . !" Marg, that's funny.

Jean, I do remember you, partly because of your name. Learned when you were here before that you were not the JJ I recalled from camp (usually a lifeguard there @Indian Lake). 'Twould be funny if the JJ Marg knew ~~ also not you ~~ happened to be the same one I knew way back when.

    Anyway, welcome back.

Welcome! A young man we are proud to claim as one of our own, Joshua Broward, is currently at KNU. He is also lead pastor at KNU International English Church. I don't know if your paths crossed but I think he went to Korea in 2004. My husband was Josh's pastor when Josh was in Jr. High and highschool.

Thanks, Gina, for the welcome back. Yeah, my name happens to be a rather common one, I guess. Some of my friends also call me "JJ."

I see that I'm going to have to learn how to reply to a specific person's post better. Anyway, it's good to be back. Thanks for your kind words, Dana. I think you were probably one of the first I "connected" with.

Thanks for the welcome, Cynthia. I do, indeed, remember Josh and Sarah. Their little Emma was less than a year old and I babysat at times. He was a wonderful preacher and pastor. I think they've found a real niche over there.

Yes, it's good to be back in the U.S. although sometimes I still yearn for living overseas. However, God has given me a cross-cultural ministry here for now through my local church. I was still in Korea when Dr. and Mrs. Owens came for a visit. I think it was on the occasion of the university's 50th anniversary. God has blessed that university in a marvelous way.
