accept an advisory from a really old Nazarene, don't switch to another forum now. Hear me out. What does a siren mean to you? Yes, someone is in need and that means they also need prayer. So what I have tried to do each time I hear a siren for about the last 20 or more years is to whisper a prayer on behalf of the subject whether it be a physical, property or law enforcement situation. Both the subjects and the first responders can use some prayer no matter what the situation. So to me a siren is a call to prayer.

For me, as well, Jim. Ever since I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance when I had a heart attack, I have had a new passion for people who also go through this for whatever reason. So, when I hear a siren, I whisper a prayer for that situation. It takes on a different meaning when you've been there personally.

Yes, Jim, same here. We live in a small community. When the fire trucks go out, I not only pray for the person experiencing trouble (could be fire, accident, or other) but I pray for the firefighters by name.

Yes, recall eons ago the relief felt, tho still really hurting of course, upon knowing the ambulance was there by that tree we had just run into. And then years later got a ride in another one ~~ one of a very few vehicles on Mackinac Island ~~ when a horse decided it wanted someone off his back. We were by the Grand Hotel, there was a curb ....

Eta: So, yes, for a lot of years I too have equated that siren sound with prayer.
