I bought a new suit a month or so ago for the two-very-important family weddings this summer.
We were at the church for wedding pics early this past Sat and as I stepped out of the car I realized immediatly I could not keep my pants up. I've lost too much weight with most of it from around my waist. I really struggled to keep my pants up during the picture-taking time on the ONU campus, across the street from the church. After pictures we all rushed over to the church and I went looking for some rope/string/something to keep my pants up.
Thankfully, our son-in-law helped me by bringing me a ball of string and some scissors. I cut two long pieces of string, went into the men's room, and made myself some "string-suspenders" which I tied to my belt loops, front and back. Up the stairs I went, to the waiting throng of people, almost immediately went forward, with the other grandfather, to light the candles. Once that task was accomplished, my lovely bride of 56+ years and I were then ushered to our "grandparents" pew where we sat through that wonderful wedding ceremony (no problem keeping them up) was dismissed from our row by the newly-weds, up the aisle and OUT THE DOOR where I headed home to get some for-real suspenders.
The rest of the evening went fine. But had it not been for those fake string suspenders, I’m quite certain it woulda-been “pants on the ground” for the old geezer.
Not a pretty sight.
