Well, my first name derives from Yohanan, which means "Yahweh is gracious". It's probably not quite what you meant, but I'm happy with my name and its meaning. Now I "just" have to live up to it.

My dad's best friend's middle name was ELISHA. He led my dad to the LORD...they worked side-by-side in the "shop" - so my dad wanted to honor his friend in some way which I think is great.
But I've never figured out why they didn't just name me Elisha.
Oh well. I've lived with it and survived for these 78+ years.

I have a brother in law who's name is "Eliza" (Dutch spelling of the same name). He's called "Liza". Works pretty well where he comes from (province of Zeeland) but it is quite unfamiliar in the rest of the country. So perhaps you should just be glad it never became "Liza Bradford" or you could have sung along with Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue"![]()

Two of them! James and Michael!
We have continued on with our sons Joshua David and Daniel James! Joshua's dog was named "Caleb the spy" and Daniels dog is named "Moses the deliverer." I would have named the dog Shadrach, Meshek or Abednego, but I thought those names to be a little too strange. Too late when I found out that Hovie Lister's dog was named Shadrach.

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

Can you call down fire from heaven? My biblical name is John ... like John the baptist who "Did no miracle" (John 10:41).
Though lacking the biblical spelling Nathaniel means "Gift from God" and was the name of a disciple in whom there was no guile. My daughter is Gabriella Eve, and my older son is Robert Emmanuel. So there are definite middle names that are biblical, just like in your case, Nelson.

Wilson is said to have originated as a shortened form of "William's Son."
Biblical people like Simon bar Jonah or Barnabas or Bartholemew all have "bar" in them meaning "son of." So "son" and "bar" are the same, so by having son in my name, in a way, I share this Biblical naming tradition...
How's that for a stretch?
In the more traditional, less creative way, neither Wilson nor Lee nor Deaton are found in the Bible... (Though at some point, the second syllable of Leah was likely dropped in casual conversation.)

Lindsey Noelle -- I guess Noelle has some significance, except it's not spelled Christmas-y.
Tyler Gordon -- Well, my grandfather, Gordon Roberts, was the most Godly man I've ever known -- does that count?
We did have a Great Dane named Samson once.
Hey, I'm getting closer.....LOL
Dana -- which is Dan almost. Daniel? No? Ok, I give up.

Oh, Oh, Oh, I DO have a Biblical name!!! I completely forgot!!! My last name is a Biblical name!!! And I would imagine that my last name is probably in the Bible many more times than any of your Biblical names.......
For example......
Psalm 85:7 --
Show us your unfailing love, LORD, and grant us your salvation.
So....
I win.
LOL

While we are talking about biblical names, I'm reminded that a couple of winters ago, while in Quebec, I heard what seems to me to be the most beautiful girls name ever.
Our waitress informed us that her name was Mary Eve. In french it is pronounced as a contraction, Marieve. Beautiful sounding and named for the most favored woman and for the first woman!
