NFL Pre-Season begins- what are you looking for?

Tonight we get the first look at this years version of many NFL teams. The wins and losses don't mean a thing, but how a team performs still matters and there are plenty of position battles to watch for.

As Skins fan I am of course anxious to see RG3 in action tonight for the first time as a pro. I expect some rookie mistakes but I am hoping to see flashes of all the we think he may be as a legitimate franchise QB. In my lifetime I have seen 4 Superbowl appearances with 3 wins for my Redskins and we have never had a QB with this kind of potential. So I am cautiously excited about the possibilities understanding that being excited about "potential" can only last so long.

On other fronts the Skins have some line depth issues, secondary issues (mediocre corners and no clear starting safeties) and no real stars at WR. There is also some question about who will start at RB- but I am betting this will RB by committee anyway.

Well that's my team- give me your thoughts or tell me about your team or anything else you might be watching for this Pre-Season in the NFL.

As a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, I shouldn't have much reason to hope. But there are some promising signs coming out of Cleveland these days. Mike Holmgren has made some improvements to the Roster and we now have a West coast offense built around Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson. This could be a very exciting year for Browns fans. I'm not saying they will make the playoffs, but I can see them going 8-8 which would be improvement and give Browns fans a reason to cheer.
Thanks James Diggs - "thanks" for this post

I have no teams & I don't watch any NFL football-preseason or regular season.

You should join a fantasy football team. That way you can be a fan of every team your players are on and you can waste 8 hours a week manipulating your roster to win the league you are in. It's glorious.

Sounds like a good way to waste a great deal of time.

Bob, the local prognasticators here in Columbus are forecasting about 3 wins for the Brownies. I don't see them finishing above anyone else in the division.

Well, that might be accurate. They have a pretty tough schedule. The Patriots on the other hand, have a very easy schedule. I can see them going 14-2 this year.

I am really disappointed that we did not pick up a franchise QB in the draft. We have to solve the constant revolving door - every year looking for a savior to lead us to the promised land. And we really need one or more big, physical tight ends, and a cagy veteran slot receiver who doesn't mind getting hit.

Oh wait, I'm a New England fan. Never mind.

Seriously, I hope we can see a stronger defense coming out of camp this year. Last year, the Pats' D was softer than a James Taylor acoustic set.
(I'm really tired of using that line. Hope it doesn't apply again this year.)

New England just signed Jeff Demps. Wow, this is getting ridiculous! New England is stacked with talent, they are going to burn their opponents. With Welker, Loyd, Gronkowski, Woodhead, and now Demps you have some amazing talent and experience on offense. I pick N.E. to win the AFC and contend for another Super bowl.
