in Idaho. Last night I watched a documentary of our state's available lookout towers for rent. Of nearly a thousand lookout towers that have existed in the state over the last 125 years about 150 are still in existence and many of them still used as originally intended but there are some that have been renovated and upgraded so that tourists or part time hermits can be way out in the wilderness for as long as they wish. Some are rented only in the winter and others that have been vacated and used only as rentals are available throughout the year.
It would be a challenge to some of you in the eastern 2/3s of the nation to check into the possibility of spending some quality time in spiritual renewal communing with the Creator of such beauty, writers could have solitude to put their thoughts on paper, others could just get away from the congestion of urbanized areas.
I believe you could find more information by contacting the Idaho State Forestry Department or the US Forest Service. Just a suggestion for a unique opportunity and experience. Try it, you'll like it.
