Some unexpected benefits of getting old

I checked on Ebay and found that antique fishing lures are in demand. Some of them sell for up to $40 each.

I have more than a hundred lures that my dad and I used from 1940 -- 1980. I wouldn't think of selling them, but it is good to know that the value is there.

I clicked on this, eagerly hoping that I would find some benefit of getting old that I was unaware of.............but alas I own no fishing lures.

If you mumble like the short little guy on "Laugh In" you may get some deference but no respect these days. such as Rodney Dangerfield.

Well, the Oklahoma State Fair has been lacking over the past few years, and I'm not sure I would pay to get in, but tomorrow it is FREE for anyone 55 and over. So, bring it on, fried butter and fried cookie dough! If only the food was free, too!
    Godspeed!

Careful! Too much fried butter and fried cookie dough may cut into the length of time you get to enjoy the benefits of being over 55!

I'm just curious about the fried butter. If it is margarine, forget it. The cookie dough, though, sounds good to me.
    Godspeed!

Have you priced new fishing lures recently?

Bud Robinson had a Q&A section in the old Herald of Holiness. Someone once wrote in asking if one could eat pork and still go to heaven. Robinson replied to the effect that the more you ate the sooner you'd get there.

Turns out I did not have the fried butter or cookie dough. Could not find either one. Settled for some ice cream.

You mean you didn't avail yourself of the 'maple bacon doughnut'?

I so wish I had a quick enough wit to answer tough (and possibly impertenent) questions like that one with such a clever answer! Probably wouldn't be very popular on Nazanet when I put some of you in your place
And, as I remember from the book I read in Nazarene Junior Missionary Society back in the 60's (The Boy With The Stammering Tongue, the clever Uncle Bud didn't have near as many Grad School hours under his belt as I do.
I also recall he said that any Nazarene that didn't read the Herald of Holiness was worse than a heathen. I don't think such talk would be welcome on Naznet today (oops...at first I spelled it Nazznet, kind of like Jazznet. Some kind of parapraxis perhaps?)

No, didn't see that either. But I did see a bacon smoothie! If I want bacon ice cream, I'll just go to Burger King. They have a bacon sundae.
    Godspeed!
