We should leave them alone: they were here before we were. Oh, wait . . .

Glad to see you come to your senses!

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

I guess you could say that these are dam goats.

O.K., did they fall down and they are trying to get back out, or do they really think the world is better at the top of that pile of rocks?

The article I read says that there's a high salt content in the stones used in the structure, and the goats use it as a salt lick.

I do see now in Picture 1 they seem to be licking the rocks.

I saw another photo of a mountain goat in Montana in a crazy, precarious position licking salt. When I was a kid we had cattle and goats and my dad always kept a big block of salt out for them.

PS: I need to post fun threads like this more often, for my own enjoyment of NazNet.

Now I'm wondering about the erosive rate of an Ibex Goat on salty stone and how that will affect the life expectancy of a dam like this...

Don't worry Wilson, all those liberal tree-hugging fun-spoiling Global Warmerites almost have me convinced we will be long dead before those goats get those rocks licked clear through.

Re: Alpine ibex goats - climbing the face of a dam in italy

And your picture will preach! Just like the ibex on the dam, it is the sure-footed feet of the ibex that are the "hind's feet" or "feet of a deer" in Psalm 18:34 and Habakkuk 3:19. The Psalm is celebrating victory...in Habakkuk we see barrenness. So our picture is that regardless of the path, no matter how steep, and treacherous...the path may not be easy, but praise God he will give us FEET for the path.

The video of the ibex is shot at En Gedi, where David hid from Saul. Three thousand years later, the waters of the En Gedi spring still flow, and the ibex still make the treacherous 1,000 foot descent, each day, for food and water.
"I'll give you a full life in the emptiest of places...You'll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew... You'll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, make the community livable again." Isaiah 58:11-12 (THE MESSAGE)
