A Proud Parent Post: Dawn of Man (my son's band) Releases Album

My son, Landon, is the drummer for Dawn of Man. The last time I mentioned them it was in the context of them being asked to perform at the UW Milwaukee Transit of Venus event. Well, last night they released their first album.

From this link you can stream listen for free!(And do other stuff like buy your own download, or pre-order the CD.)

It's a concept album. (A musicial representation of a man encountering a black hole...) The original album art by local artist, Nicholas Webb:

Gotta say....I thoroughly dig your sons band....they instrumentals remind me slightly of Coheed and Cambria (one of my all time favorite bands)

Wilson, a cousin of mine had a son who was a drummer who represented the state of Kansas in the MacDonald's All American band in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade back in the 60s. My cousin believed there was a special grace for the parents of developing drummers and I suspect you and your household have be granted such grace. Where will his talent take him? Probably when we are marching to Zion the Celestial praise and worship band will need a drummer to keep us in sychronized step.

Just finished the final track- have listened straight through while the baby slept in my arms and my other kids were out. Really fantastic stuff! Reminds me quite a bit of what may be expected from a band like Explosions in the Sky or Godspeed You Black Emperor. We've had a few such bands in the Nashville area that are fantastic for a while, great show experiences, and then eventually fade away. One major factor seems to be whether or not a track can get used in film. Such ethereal instrumentals can prove to have great impact in the background of a movie. Hoping for future good things for your son and his band.

Listened to about half before I had something else to do, but definitely plan on listening to the rest, too.
