why someone who makes thousands of posts on NN should be congratulated! With so many posts, how is there time for anything else? Do you spend all of your waking time reading and posting? Not critical, just curious.

Even in my Halcyon days, I rarely spent more than 2 hours on NazNet on any given day, and was usually doing homework at the same time...

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. The number of posts a person has made has as much to do with how long they've been part of this online community than it does with how much time they spend here each day.
And everyone spends time doing something. If a person spends time on NazNet that should be spent with family, etc. there's a problem, but it's the same problem of a person who spends time doing anything else rather than time with family, etc.
I pop in on NazNet several times a day (In fact, I keep a tab open on NazNet all the time) - I hit refresh, see what's happening, and most often go back to whatever else I was doing. If something interests me, I take a few minutes to type in an answer, but it's not as though I spend hours reading and writing.
So, yeah, why not congratulate people who have been here the longest and who have contributed the most to the conversation. I think it's a nice thing to do.

Mark, I am retired and this is one way I can fill my days and feel connected. Since my academic interests are in Geography, History and Political Science I search for and comment on what I find in various sources. To me the use of NazNet and our repartee is one way of sharing our lives with more than our immediate family and close friends and discovering the opinions of others and about people's lives from other regions of the nation and the world which again is part of my interest in other folks. I spend an hour or more each day in prayer, scriptura reading and devotional commentary. My teacher spouse has our vehicle at her school all day long from as early as 8 AM until 9 PM so life without NazNet and other online searches would be really boring abd lonely. My eyes are failing so the reading of online material is easieer than books. I do crossword puzzles when I can afford to get a book of them. And when I pray for a request on that forum I hope I am being a blessing in a way that I otherwise would not have the opportunity. I just passed 3000 since the crash and I had more than that before it. Nelson is a real blessing with his post of hymns and about their writers and I really appreciate his adding to my devotional life each time he does. Sometimes I wonder about those who have twice as many posts as I do as to how they fit that many into their day. Sometimes when I can't sleep I get on line to find out what is on the over night news or whether someone here has posted something of interest. I see others who post during the night also.

I'm like Scott. Because I spend a lot of time at my desk on the computer I pop in and out a lot during the day. It is short mental break for me. (Naznet is in the entertainment category) I also pop in during the evening with my smart phone. I'm ADHD and get bored easily so I pick up the phone a pop in for a little bit. Lots of post are short. Popping back and forth works very well with me. I rarely take any big breaks during the but lots of in an out... Like this one. Now back to work!

Which is why you're so good in the "First Response" thread, Susan.
Since I am a writer/blogger and minister at a small church causing my office to be home I pop into NN to get a reprieve from long studies in Bible commentaries, or to take breaks from writing 2,000-5,000 words at a given time. I do vastly more reading on NN than posting (which may be hard for some to believe). Of course Cynthia's stuff can often remind me of my commentary reading, but I do find it refreshingly passionate rather than dryly academic! A great majority of my posts (aside from the above mentioned First Response thread that may well account for a third of my posts) are in back and forth conversations where continuing to respond is somewhat expected. That being said you can probably blame a good portion of my posts on guys like Ryan Scott, Cam Pence and others, but I will say that it has been great getting to understand more about these guys.
I promise I'm not neglecting my kids or wife for NN, and this most recent slew of posts have all been made while my 8 month old sleeps on my chest and I listen to Dawn of Man at Wilson's suggestion, which I'm really digging. Naznet has made my day better already.![]()

Nate, agree about Cynthia's enlightening/Jewish-historical posts, spiced up by her having lived in the Middle East.

I'm also a NazNetter who pops in and out. I'm self employed, so I pop into NazNet or pop onto Facebook a few times during the day, and both are on their own tabs at the top of my page. It looks like I'm on facebook a lot, but in reality, I take a 10-minute break every hour -- I let the dog out, pet the dog a little bit, answer a phone call, get on facebook, check naznet, eat a little snack -- anything to get me out of the work mode for a few minutes. It helps me keep my sanity. LOL
Now I'm off to grocery shopping.....how exciting is that.

What I often end up doing is keeping a tab open on those long ones to handle later, and open a new NN tab to finish the casual browsing first.
As for Greg, we can just see him getting to 999 and a post coming along that he just cannot resist responding to ... and, Greg, you can only "bite your tongue"/("sit on your hands," since we type here instead of talk?) for so long!! LOL![]()

Naznet has become my homies(how's that for grammar). I love our ministry, but the one thing I miss is being able to really dig in deep with people...take it apart...see where it came from...does it mean what I thought it meant...what do you think?....and what do you think?...and wow, you made me think. We do a lot of ministry to the simple son, who, although he is just as important as the wise son, things must be explained in a different way. For the wise son...explanations are detailed, in depth, nuances explored. That is what you all are to me. You are the wise son. And I love learning and exploring and thinking and pondering and especially seeing your love for Jesus. When did Naznet change from being a place visited to a community I consider myself a part of??? I don't know...but I like you guys. You make me think...you make me want to be better than I am...and you keep me focused on the incredible love that we receive and that we are to give.
If my post numbers are going to go up I gotta learn how to write shorter posts.![]()
