Have the football moguls bought out all of the sports networks?
Have the football moguls bought out all of the sports networks?
Jim,
The game is going to be televised nationally on TBS. I guess that if you don't have cable, then you'd be out of luck.
Not cool, if only on cable. If it is supposed to be, as claimed at times, "the national sport," then the entire nation should be able to see it ... not just those whose budget may be able to fit cable into it.![]()

It should be brought up as an unAmerican activity not to have the "National Pasttime" excluded from free and balanced TV. I should think there should be some kind of Congressional investigation into such an unpatriotic dilemna.

You are so right, Ben. Some have called it the thinking man's sport because there are so many alternatives to all of the options of how to respond in different situations.
While I agree there is far more going on at every moment and a lot more thinking than most think, there is no more mental sport than Football in America that I know of. The amount of different coverages, schemes, and individual plays these players have to be able to memorize and execute alone is absolutely superhuman. The ability to study and know those of other teams as well as recognize them on the field and adjust accordingly is just mind-blowing.
Baseball doesn't hold a candle to that in terms of "thinking man's game." Doesn't need to, though, it's still better!![]()

I am giving up on baseball currently. My two least favorite teams in baseball? Tigers and Yankees.
So, one of my two most hated teams in baseball is going to be in the WS, no two ways about it.
My current #3? Giants. Can't stand em. Can't stand their fans. Tired of them. They've worn out their welcome with me.
So, obviously my pick would be the Cards, whom I generally like a lot. But.... they beat my home team, who I was really pulling for, so I have a very bitter taste in my mouth from them and am not happy about seeing them win again currently.
So, I am just sick to my stomach with abseball at the moment. Not sure it could get any worse.

I'm a 4th generation Cards fan.
Back in my granddad's day, the Cardinals were the westernmost team, so people from MS, LA, ARK, OK, TN, etc were Cards fan.
Grew up idolizing Mr. Clutch Ted Simmons. Wanted to be a catcher so bad but I was usually one of the better pitchers so I never got to play it.

Big time Orioles fan. What an awesome season and an even more disappointing ending.

Let us all pause for a moment of silence in respect for Benjamin's loss of love for baseball during this playoff season.

In a sense you are right, but in a sense I'm not sure I agree 100%. I think it's only because the marketability of football. It is easy for people to pour 100% of their interest into a sport they only have to watch one day a week. As such, it is also perfect for fantasy leagues which make the interest level go even higher.
I think that more hours are poured into baseball by fans every year and I also think that if football demanded the same from fans that baseball does, it woulda never caught up.

Difficult for me to get excited about this postseason now. Really wanted to see the Orioles beat the Yankees, and the Nationals to beat the Cards.
Okay - I lie.
Difficult to get excited in the abstract. Don't like any of these teams. However...
Watching the ALCS and NLCS, I just enjoy the game so much.
Waiting right now to see with the Giants will do after the nasty and late slide into Scutaro.
