NAZNET growth.htm GROUP - WEEK 1 - March 2, 1999Day 3 of the Adult Journal (pg. 25)
Read Revelation 2:1-7
1. What are the good things Jesus says about the church at Ephesus? If you had been a first-century Ephesian, would you have thought of this as a good, strong church? Why or why not?
2. What was Christ's one criticism of the Ephesian church? What in this passage indicates the seriousness of this fault?
3. When in your life was your relationship with Jesus fresh and meaningful? Describe it.
4. In what ways is your present relationship with Christ similar to and/= or different from the time you described?
5. What activities have characteristically helped you draw near to God? = How could you incorporate one of them into this coming week?
Day 6 of the Adult Journal (pg. 28)
Read Psalm 73:25-28
1. What words does the psalmist, Asaph, use to describe his intimate relationship with God? How would you express similar feelings in your own words?
2. Earlier in the psalm, Asaph notes that the ungodly seem to have material wealth and an easy life (verses 2-14). When is a time you've felt like Asaph?
3. Verses 16-24 are the turning point in this psalm. Describe how Asaph's perspective changed after entering the sanctuary of God.
4. All of us would like to experience God's presence in his sanctuary as the psalmist did. As you anticipate the Lord's Day, what are some ways you can better open yourself to this possibility?
5. Asaph discovered that his intimacy with God put him in an enviable position. Rephrase verse 28 in a way that makes it your own.
