            "Hope"

NKJV Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulders. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

NAV, John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 6:47, "Truly, truly I say to you, he who believes has eternal life."

I Cor. 15:55-57, "O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?"

I Cor. 15:57, thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Exodus 33:14, "My presence shall go {with you,} and I will give you rest."

Our hope is not complete with the incarnation and birth of our Lord Jesus Christ as a babe, but He willingly gave His life to be crucified, died, rose from the dead, ascended to heaven and is there now ever interceding to the Father for us.

My prayer, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy upon us. Help us who are spiritually blind to see the hope that you have provided for us.

Although, you were God-Man you were obedient to your Father in going to the cross to be sacrificed in crucifixion that we, sinful humanity, might for once and all time have atonement for our sins. Jesus, help hearts to hear your voice and call to repentance of sins and to accept your mercy of love and forgiveness. All who do so will receive eternal life. The ultimate hopes. A life of hope that begins here on earth until we arrive safely with you in heaven. Oh Lord, our God, You are our hope and our salvation. There is hope in none other than you.

I am reminded of some of the words of a beautiful song written by Mosie Lister. The song is, "God Loved the World So Much." In the song the chorus says, "I shall not perish, I shall not perish, For God loved the world so much. He sent His son to save my soul from the darkness, in spite of all of my unworthiness."

            Helen Steiner Rice's poem,

            "Was It Really So?"

"A Star in the sky, an Angel's voice
            Telling the world---Rejoice! Rejoice!
But that was centuries and centuries ago,
And we ask today, Was it really so?
Was the Christ Child born in a manger bed?
Without a pillow to rest His head?
Did He walk on earth and live and die
And return to God to dwell on high?
We were not there to hear or see,
But our hopes and dreams of Eternity
Are centered around that holy story
When God sent us His Son in glory---
And life on earth has not been the same,
Regardless of what the skeptics claim,
For no event ever left behind
            A transformation of this kind. . . . . .

So, question and search and doubt, if you will,
But the story of Christmas is living still. . . . .
And though man may conquer the earth and the sea,
            He cannot conquer Eternity. . . . . .

And with all his triumph man is but a clod
Until he comes to rest with God."

            Dear Jesus,

As we celebrate your birth this Christmas, may our hearts be filled with thanksgiving and praise!

May our souls overflow with your peace and your love! I pray that your light would shine through us, and with your power may we share with all the world what you have done for us. Bless us with your strength and your peace. May all that we do and say bring you Glory and Honor and Praise! May our very lives be an example of your mercy and grace! And may we be obedient to Thy will and to Thy way!

            In thy name we pray!

            Amen
