Twelve Days of Christmas

Day 10

January 3

On the 10th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

Ten Lords A-leaping

The ten commandments: You shall have no other gods before me; Do not make an idol; Do not take God's name in vain; Remember the Sabbath Day; Honor your father and mother; Do not murder; Do not commit adultery; Do not steal; Do not bear false witness; Do not covet. (Exodus 20:1-17)

I'm 29 years old and I live in Norway. I grew up surrounded by love in a Christian family. My parents always let me know that I was very much loved. I have a dad that loves me more than his own life, one that is always there for me and wants me to be well. I have never doubted his love for me. And I know that even if I now live far away from my home, my dad is always there for me. He will always be there for me as long as he can. This way he has given me a good picture of what my Heavenly Father is like!

Isaiah 9:6 says: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." This is a wonderful verse that really tells us so much about what the Lord is like. Here we also see that God is our Father.

Let us take a look in II Corinthians 6:18 "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." Do you see what I see? God wants to be my Father, and He actually calls me His daughter!! This is to me so incredibly fantastic! My earthly dad loves me and is there for me. How much more then does not my Heavenly Father loves me? How much more will He not support me and be there for me when I need Him? Think about this: The Almighty God, the Creator of Heaven and earth--HE is actually MY DAD!!!! My Dad is Almighty! This is something that gives me a deep peace and security. This is the entire foundation of my life. This is what Jesus gave back to me when He came to earth, and died for my sins. He gave me back the fellowship with my Dad!

Know what I do sometimes when I feel lonely and sad? I go to my bedroom where I can be alone. I grab my Bible and sit down, and I spend time with my Dad. I lean on Him, maybe lay down on His lap. There I can relax and be myself. I can cry when I need that. I can just BE there without using any words, without achieving anything--simply be in His presence. Greater freedom I cannot find!

So Christmas to me is more than the Christmas-atmosphere, Christmas tree and presents. Christmas to me means FREEDOM, because the greatest and most fantastic present I got was Jesus Himself and all the blessings that are in Him! I truly have a good reason to celebrate Christmas--but when I think about it, I really have reason to celebrate each day during the year. Because this gift never ends, it's everlasting, and follows me each and every day!!

Prayer

I'm free. Thank You; Thank You; Thank You, Father, My heavenly Father!
You freed me. I was in prison and You slipped in and took my place because You are my Father who would lay down his life for me. The debt was paid and You were released, too. Death could not hold You, because You are The Almighty.
Your love means so much to me. Now we can walk together, talk together, even romp together. I'm free. And I shall celebrate it througout eternity!

Praise Your Holy Name!

Amen
