God, Our Sufficiency for All Our Days

The suggested scriptures for this date indicates that God will:--------------

    1. encamp about us in times of need--Psalms 34:7

    2. be present to fulfill our inadequacies--John 6:1-14

    3. supply the talent to promote His kingdom--Ephesians 4:1-16

    4. hear our cry for help in time of trouble--Psalms 34:15

These functions of God have been true in my life. My mother died when I was thirteen years old and times were hard. My daddy , grandmother and other relatives kept the family together. Several months later, my daddy married a lady who was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Naturally she took my younger sister, brother and me to church. I was introduced to what it means to be a Christian. Later as a young adult I embraced the plan for me as taught by the church. God stayed close to me in times of need. Psalms 34:7 ----------

After high school I applied to nursing school and was accepted. The story is too long to tell here but God fulfilled my inadequacies in order to earn three college degrees to prepare for a long career in nursing. John 6:1-14

As a young Christian, God provided mentors to assist me to develop my talents so that I could participate in the promotion of His Kingdom. He allowed me to perform the tasks for which I was created. Serving in a caring profession has provided many opportunities to demonstrate the love of God. Ephesians 4:1-16

Recently I was driving down the interstate and realized that something was terribly wrong with my steering. My prayer was a call for help. An all-sufficient God got me safely to the repair shop. The technician said my automobile was unsafe to drive. God had heard my prayers in the time of trouble. Psalms 34:15

As we begin this new year of the century, may we all be reminded that God is sufficient for all of our days. My prayer for us all is that we will be busy demonstrating this truth to those in our world. May we be all He wants us to be today and forever.

    Father God,

You are always teaching and guiding us. Sometimes we notice it and other times we don't. Thank you for reminding us that you are always working. Even in the confusing times.

    Thank you for your sufficiency.

Help us to express our graditude by honoring you with a holy life-style.

    Amen
