The 5th Sunday February 6 |
Have you ever tried to picture God? Is the "King of glory" attired in full battle array? Does His majestic regalia cascade across the vast throne-room of Heaven? Do His piercing eyes burn with the fire of holiness? Can you see the hands that tossed dazzling galaxies across a dark, silent universe? Can you hear the whisper of the hovering angels' wings? Has God ever spoken directly to you? What did He sound like? Did the thunder of His voice pound in your heart? How did he deliver His message? What did He say? Were you surprised that the Eternal would reach into your world to touch your life? God spoke to an aged and childless Abraham of the numerous descendants that would be his. Abraham believed God's promises for the future; he was still trusting when he died, even though he had not yet realized the promises. He looked into the future with eyes of faith. Today our faith is affirmed by seeing God's faithfulness in the past. Our faith is also challenged by the hope of promises yet unfulfilled in both time and eternity. What has God promised you? Do you believe Him? Do your eyes of faith see beyond the daily distractions, beyond the seeming impossibilities--to the fulfillment? Are you willing to trust Him even if you never see the fruition of that promise in your lifetime? Kathy Jones Kansas City, Missouri, USA
Prayer Your faithfulness has been revealed to us in everything You have done, Father. You have set the laws of nature in place and they are not broken except through a miracle for our good and Your glory. Your love is always made known through all. Because we have seen Your faithfulness, it is not beyond us to trust Your promises. Thank You for setting Your Word firmly in our hearts that it may never fail us. Thank You for giving us Your son to intercede for us -- and thank You for Your Holy Spirit as a seal of our salvation. We trust Your promise. Amen
