"Peace Is Jesus Christ"

Once again I watch in awe as summer turns into fall, and fall silently slips into winter. As I watch the miraculous changing of the seasons, I also observe the changing of the people. We begin to pick up the pace in our lives as Christmas approaches. We rush to get the yard and the house prepared for winter and the coming holidays, we rush to get the family members to all of their activities, we rush to get presents bought for all of our loved ones, and we rush to get cards sent out in time. With all the hurrying and scurrying about, I wonder how people keep up this frantic pace?

Where do they get their energy? or are they at their wits end and barely hanging on by a thread?

As Christians we can have the strength and the peace to see us through all that is going on in our lives. God's word tells us, "The Lord gives strength to his people, The Lord blesses his people with peace" Psalm 29:11.

Oh, what a wonderful promise!, Oh, what an awesome God!

In my short walk with Christ I have felt this peace in the midst of celebrations, when a loved one comes to know Jesus, or during this holiday season as anticipation and excitement build to a wonderful celebration of the birth of our savior. I have also felt this peace as I walk the empty hallways of a hospital, seemingly all alone as my son lays fighting for his very life. No matter if we are on the mountain top, or in the valley of the shadow of death, God can give us a "peace that passeth all understanding."

That peace was born almost 2000 years ago in a manger. That peace came into our world just for you and just for me, and that peace bled and died just for you and just for me. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son," That peace is Jesus Christ.

Dear Jesus,

As we celebrate your birth this Christmas, may our hearts be filled with thanksgiving and praise!

May our souls overflow with your peace and your love! I pray that your light would shine through us, and with your power may we share with all the world what you have done for us. Bless us with your strength and your peace. May all that we do and say bring you Glory and Honor and Praise! may our very lives be an example of your mercy and grace! and may we be obedient to thy will and to thy way!

In thy name we pray!

Amen
