John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! Lamb of Glory -- The Passover Lamb. Jesus was our Passover lamb. He died for the sins of the world. The Passover lamb, specially provides the last supper in the upper room. The Passover Lamb symbolizes the atoning sacrifice of Christ. On the night that Jesus and his disciples shared the Last Supper a different Passover lamb would come. This one would be Christ. The Son of God would be the Passover lamb for all men for all time. No longer would a sacrificial lamb need to die. As Christians we can proclaim, "Christ, our Passover was sacrificed for us" (I Cor. 5:7) The Passover lamb was to be one of the flock. Christ came to earth and walked among us. He became one of the flock of humanity. The Passover lamb had to be without blemish. Christ was without stain. He was pure and spotless - without sin. The Passover lamb had to be in the prime of his life, a male of the first year. Jesus was cut off in the prime of his life. Prophecy was fulfilled in that the Passover lamb could have no broken bones, and it was the custom to break the knees of the men on the cross, but Christ's bones were not broken. Thus, that fulfilled the Old Testament prophecy. The Passover lamb was slain at evening and it is believed that Christ died at the time the lamb was traditionally slain. The blood of the lamb was applied to the doorposts and those that had the blood of the lamb were delivered from death. Our Passover lamb saved us from eternal death. Those who have applied the blood of Jesus, which flowed from Calvary, are saved. The blood of Jesus makes us white as snow. Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God, who was without sin died for me. Died for all mankind. He took the sin of the world on his back. He suffered pain and torture, humiliation and loss . Why? So that I may be saved and have eternal life. So that everyone for all generations can be saved and have this free gift… eternal life. LAMB OF GLORY, by Greg Nelson and Phill McHugh Hear the story from God's Word that kings and priests and prophets heard; There would be a sacrifice, and blood would flow to pay sin's price. Chorus: Precious Lamb of Glory, Love's most precious story, Heart of God's redemption of man, Worship the Lamb of Glory. Verse 2: On the cross God loved the world, while all the pow'rs of hell were hurled. No one there could understand the One they saw was Christ, the Lamb. Precious Lamb of Glory, love's most wondrous story, Heart of God's redemption of man; Glory to the Lamb of Glory, With all saints, I will spend Eternity, Giving praise to the Lamb of Glory! Precious Lamb of Glory, Love's most wondrous story, Heart of God's redemption of man, Glory to the Lamb, White as snow I stand, Worshipping the Lamb of Glory. These are the words as Stephen Green sings it. Hebrews 10:19-21 (New Living Translation) "And so dear friends we can boldly enter Heaven's most holy place because of the blood of Jesus. This is the new life-giving way that Christ has opened up for us through the sacred curtain, by means of His death for us. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God's people, let us go right into the presence of God, with hearts fully trusting Him. For our evil consciences have been sprinkled with Christ's blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water." Marsha Gupton Nashville, TN USA
Jesus you are truly the Son of God, The Lamb of God. We worship you and honor you. You took our sins, you suffered for our sins. Thank you Jesus for your love and your gift of eternal life. We thank you for unconditional love. Love you so freely give. Amen
